I have rented cars in Europe many times but have never experienced what I am for rentals in Portugal. Not only expensive but excessive security deposits and extra fees for being over 65 years old. Have suggestions would be welcome.
Check out rentals at Auto Europe. Very highly recommended by many on this website. They have a toll free number and excellent customer support. Don’t hesitate to call them.
Age restrictions vary by providers not countries. We always rent through Auto Europe.
Try ZestCarRental.com.
Zest is a highly rated UK consolidator that works with many local Portuguese car rental companies, including some of the majors like Hertz.
I just tried a dummy testing for a 60-year-old and a 70-year-old and found no difference in price.
Different companies may or may not require a refundable deposit. RentCar4less is one that I used through zest and they did not require one.
After you punch in your parameters in zest, read the details for each car company/rental to compare the differences.
Thanks to the person who recommended ZEST. I went on their web site got a bigger SUV with an automatic transmission, pick up and drop off, full insurance, toll transponder and an extra driver with no security deposit for about $200 dollars less Than anything from any other company. Total was only $555.72 for the 14 days. Thanks Again RON
