Where should we drop off our rental car at CDG and how do we get to Gare de Lyon (the location of our Hotel)? We will be visiting Chartes Cathedral and onto CDG following our 4 day visit of the Loire Valley. Is the road trip to CDG easy or is it congested. We will be going to CDG around noon. Thanks, Dorsey
Dorsey, aren't people giving you enough help on your other post on To the West? Sorry to be cranky, but it gets confusing to deal with the same questions on multiple boards.
If you will be going from Chartres to Paris, why drop off a car at CDG and then backtrack to Paris? You could drop it at Orly to avoid driving in Paris at all, at Porte d'Orleans near the Peripherique ring road if you're willing to drive a little closer to the city, or at Gare de Lyon if you're brave enough to drive into central Paris.
If you drop it at Orly, you can take the free airport shuttle bus to the Pont de Rungis RER station, the RER C to Bibliotheque Francois Mitterand, and Metro line 14 from there to Gare de Lyon.
If you drop it at Porte d'Orleans, you can take Metro line 4 to Denfert-Rochereau, Metro line 6 to Bercy, and Metro line 14 to Gare de Lyon.
I agree with Tim. Take his advice. I sounds like it would meet your needs. Be sure it does. The trip will be crowded at noon. Avoid all the inner-city driving you can.
