Switch over to AutoEurope.com or Hertz.com for websites that work better. They are very popular companies in the area you're going.

I have rented cars from Auto Europe in Ireland and France and have been very happy with the service. It so happens that the car in France was provided by Europcar. For my upcoming trip to Germany next month I was going to rent from Auto Europe again, but I decided to check with gamut.com as well as Auto Europe. I was glad I did. It turns out that cars booked from Gemut for travel specifically in Germany are provided by Auto Europe, but at a significant discount compared to booking with Auto Europe directly.

To clear up any confusion, it's Gemut.com. Andy is the expert there. Explore the website and then contact him. We've rented through Gemut.com with Andy's assistance for our past 3 trips and have consistently paid less than any price I could find online.

Lo, Thanks for pointing out my typo in the URL I gave for Gemut. "Gamut" just won't cut it.

Hi Shelley, We also used Gemut for our car rentals in mainland Italy and Sicily. We ended up with Hertz on the mainland and Europcar in Sicily. Both rentals were exactly as requested and the prices were lower than booking directly with the rental company. Andy was great to deal with on the phone, they are located in Oregon so use Pacific time for your calls. The website has great information and tips on renting a vehicle in Europe. We will certainly use them again. Cheers, Sherry

I recently used the Europcar web site for 2 car rentals in France, and it was very smooth. But as I recall, there were different Europcar web sites, depending on the suffix used (that is, .com or .fr, etc.), and one was easier to navigate than the other.

Thank all, yes we wanted to compare. We had got ahold of Andy at Gemut and Europcar...just to compare. Andy's price was better by a bit so we will be booking with him in the next few days. Thanks everyone for your help!!
