I'm about to book our car rental for two weeks, mid July, pick up Dublin airport drop off Shannon airport. Same car, Ford Focus, all-inclusive , no super CDW, manual with air. All things being equal, the rates should be about the same. Not so, the least expensive Thrifty €333, the most expensive Auto Europe €527, the rest €362-526. That's a large range, any thoughts? Were splitting the cost among four of us so price is not the issue. What am I missing?

Autoeurope has a best price guarantee (for identical rentals). Why don't you call them & see if they'll match Thrifty?

You are not missing anything... it is the same in the US. If you rent a lot, the rates can vary so drastically you think it must be a joke. Just go with the cheapest. And if you don't prepay keep checking until you leave because the rates can change. If they go down cancel your first reservation and make a new one.
