car rental insurance---personal liability vs collision coverage

I see that my credit card company offers me free rental insurance. It, however, like the CDW coverage is solely (as I understand it) to cover physical damage to the car I rent. It does not cover damage to others' cars or property and does not offer liability coverage for personal injury or death due to car accident. Is there a way to obtain this kind (liability) coverage?

Thanks. Dehryl

our personal car insurance covers this on rental cars, check it out with your insurance company.

Most likely, your own insurance provides liability coverage for you in any car, but, yes, call your company to be sure, especiall concerning the overseas aspect.

Some car rental shops in the U.S. try to tell people that, regardless of their personal or credit card insurance, they may still be liable for any revenue the rental company loses as a result of an accident to the car. I don't know if this is a scam, or a valid issue.

Our cc is the same. Our private car insurance
does not cover overseas travel.
www.autoeurope.com has a good 3rd party liability
coverage. I don't know about personal injury.
I think you can buy any kind of liability insurance
that you want.
When you pick up the car you have to sign a waiver
for the cdw coverage, otherwise it voids your cc
agreement.
