OK, I know CDW will be covered by my Visa CC. What other insurances should I be aware of and purchase to cover me?

Be careful, John. Generally, taking other insurance changes the liability of your cc insurance. I talked to someone at the VISA office insurance department (800-847-2911), and that part was very clear. Other questions remain murky; but, to repeat, if you buy insurance from the rental company, you're in a new ball game.

Simply put, you can have either cc insurance or the car joint's insurance. If you get anything from the the car place, the cc deal is dead.
