Hi: We will arrive one week early in Basel prior to our Viking Rhine tour to Amsterdam. We plan to book a hotel room on the French side (St. Louis) not far from the airport that has a free shuttle from the airport. The next day we want to rent a car that we can drive around Switzerland for a week and then return somewhere close to the Viking dock. Any ideas on a car rental company that could make that happen?

Don't know where the Viking in dock is in Basel. Sixt lists a rental location at Basel Bad station, about a mile from Basel Schifflaende on the street car line.

We found out that the hotel in St, Louis is about 3 miles from the airport and also about 3 miles from the Viking dock in Dreilandereck. Our plan is to shuttle from the airport to the hotel when we arrive and then back again the next day to rent the car at the airport. Then, on the return trip, we will drop the car back at the airport and then shuttle back to the hotel. Then, take a cab to the dock the next day.
