Car Rental in Amboise, France

We are planning on taking a train from Paris to Amboise and then renting a car in Amboise for 2 and a half days. I would like to reserve a car before leaving for Europe and the only rental company I can find to reserve online is Europcar. Has anyone rented a car from this location? Is this near the train station? Does anyone have any other suggestions for rental car companies that are in Amboise. Thanks!

According to viamichelin.com, it's 3km between the train station and the Europcar pickup point. Auto Europe is a consolidator that finds you the best rate from among the companies with which it has contracts. Europcar is one of those companies, but there may be others in Amboise. Anyway, if you get a quote from Auto Europe, it may be less than from Europcar directly.

Tours would certainly be the city closest to Amboise. According to autoeurope.com, their pickup point is close by the train station.

Hi Michele - My husband and I just rented a car in that area. Amboise is a charming town and great homebase. I would suggest taking the train to Caen and getting your car there and then drivng to Amboise. They're only about 20 minustes apart. Caen is a larger more indutrial town and there ea remore rental options with larger offices. I rented from Hertz and it was right across the street from the train station. There are no rental places in AMboise a reasonable walking distance from the train station. In fact, it's such a small station there aren't even cabs waiting outside if you wanted to take one to pick up your car.

Enjoy your trip!

Not Caen. Caen is in Normandy. Four hours north of Amboise. Maybe Brandi is thinking of Tours?

I definitely should not give advice before having enough caffine on a Monday morning. :(

I switched Amboise and Bayeaux in my head. We picked up our car in Normandy and dropped it off on our way to Paris after staying near Amboise. I agree that Tours would be a good option instead of Amboise for selection.

Sorry!
