Has anyone rented a car at the Nice train station? How difficult is it to get through the city to the autoroute from there, going either east or west? Would it be easier to rent at Antibes?

I rented a car at the Nice Ville station in 2005. Although traffic was heavy in spots, it wasn't difficult to drive in Nice. However, we drove the corniches to Monaco and back and didn't use the autoroute.

I've driven several times from the autoroute into Nice and back again and it is easy. Although traffic can get heavy in Nice, it is nothing like the traffic in major European cities. We picked up our car (leased thru Renault Eurodrive) once in Paris and once at Fumicino airport so can't help you with renting a car at the train stn. Note that a drive along the middle (moyen) and/or the high (haute) corniche offers breathtaking ocean views. Bon voyage!

Thanks. We just want get the car after taking the train from Vernazza and head for either Antibes or near Vence. It seems silly to wait for a connection to Antibes from Nice if the car rental and leaving Nice is not too complicated.
