Any suggestions on renting a car in Madrid? We won't use it there,but will be flying in and out of Madrid. I've seen some negative reports online, but haven't really seen positive ones.

When I flew into Madrid in May, the airport seemed to have all of the usual companies you might expect - Hertz, Avis, Budget, etc. Not sure what kind of suggestions you are looking for.

I have looked at lots of car rental sites for Spain...I guess what I am asking is which is most reliable and economical? (I can see price by looking at web sites, but not reliability and I've read some testimonies to bad ones)

Spain has a bunch of one-shop, local, discount (maybe) car rental outfits. Avoid these and use the majors that show up on places like kayak.com and you'll be fine.
