we are going to munich, germany at the end of April....then on to Italy. We want to rent a car for our trip. We will pick up the car in Munich. Can anyone tell me a good, economical web site or company to rent from?? And is it best to rent it here or over in germany??? Thanks soooo much!

kristie, You might find it helpful to have a look at the Gemut website, as that should answer many of your questions. They offer a downloadable car rental guide. If you want a quote, call their toll free number. One point to mention is that if you rent a car in Germany and drrop it in Italy, there will likely be a HUGE charge for that. Also, there are some potentially expensive "caveats" to be aware of when driving in Italy. Ditto Autoeurope. A broker here in the US that gets you great rates in the EU. Go to their website and fiddle with pick-up and drop-off locations. You will find that if you pick up "off airport" prices canbe a lot less. Rent here...pick it up there. Make sure that you are well insured in Italy! and bring your drivers license and Internatioanl Drivers Permit (that you buy at your local AAA office.)
