Hi,
we are renting a car for travel in Germany and France and ending our trip in Paris. We will drop off the car at the beginning of our Paris stay. The closest car drop off point is Gare de Lyon since we are staying in the 4eme. Would it be easy to drop the car there and get back to our apt, or would it be better to drop off at Charles de Gaulle? thanks!
G. Lyon is easy enough to hit from the peripherique, just get off and follow the north side of the river on Quai de Bercy. You'll panic when you see the getting-off interchange, but just press on following the Q. Bercy signs. It's not bad at all. If you'll pick up the car in Germany, I assume you find the second-country fees palatable?
As Ed has indicated, there is a stiff fee for picking up a car in one country and dropping it in another. You may find that it will be cheaper to drop off your first car near the French border, take a train into France, and pick up a second car there.
thanks for the reply. Traveling with 2 kids, we are ok with the higher cost for 2nd country drop-off!
