I am flying easyJet and myAir on my upcoming trip. I know I have to check food in for international flights, but what about flights inside of Europe?
You never have to "Check food in". You can bring your own food, but not your own liquids (unless purchased after security) on board any airline flight. Frankly easyjet won't care....

I highly recommend a nicely textured wedge of Limburger with one of those "piccolo" bottles of Sekt, if they serve it on your plane.

EasyJet are not in favour of passengers bringing food onto the aircraft.
The reason for this is simple.
To keep the costs of flights down EasyJet have very short turnaround times at airports. To keep costs down the cabin crew have to clean the cabin themselves during turnaround. Sadly passengers bringing food on board and consuming it often leave a lot of mess and packaging when they get off. This can create extra work for the cabin crew. So unless you buy it from them EasyJet don't encourage eating on board.
I've flown Easyjet an number of times and I've never seen them do anything to discourage people eating their own food. I'd be interested to know what methods they use.
I've flown Easy Jet numerous times and never had a problem with food brought on board, basically as long as its in your carry on, it doesn't matter. I think the only thing any airlines don't like you bringing on board is hot liquids (this is assuming you bought it after goign through security)and thats for safety reasons.
When I flew Easyjet last year, I had with me a large can of Pringles that I had purchased a day or so earlier and brought with me. At the end of the flight, when they were coming around to collect trash, the flight attendant asked where "that" came from (meaning my large can). When I said I brought it with me, he said, "Oh, I know the ones we sell aren't that big," but there was no big deal made of it, nor was I bothered by anyone when finishing them on the plane.
And David is right, you don't have to check food in, only liquids bought before security or over 3 oz.
I think there is some confusion over my post.
What I meant was in my carry-on bags, can I bring unopened food (protein powder cans) that I will not take out of the bag as a carry-on. I don't mean food purchased at the airport that I then want to put in my carry-on instead of throwing away.
Cans with liquids are a no no, but I haven't had a problem with powder. It may raise a few eyebrows if you get searched but I don't think there is a powder policy.
I understood that you meant in your carry-on bag, and it's fine, as long as it's not liquid. It doesn't matter if you open it on the plane or not. You still don't have to "check it in".
So I guess MY suggestion is chopped Leber, huh? :)
