I know it sounds dumb but I don't know the answer and the sites I find on the web talk about bringing wine back to the states. I want to know if I can "carry-on" a bottle between France and Copenhagen...anyone??? Donna
Basically no.
You can't take any liquids in a container bigger than 100ml (3.2 fl oz.) through security so, unless you buy the wine air-side (i.e. after security) at the airport, you can't take a bottle of wine as carry-on luggage. You can put it in your checked luggage though.
Thanks.
There may be one way around it...if you buy the wine at duty free after security, and they seal it in a special wine carrier, you might be able to.
However, I would check with the airline before you buy it.
FYI--the 3.4 oz/100ml liquid limitations are now almost universal around the world. There are a few exceptions.
We use the trick of buying wine once we get passed security. We will be in Beaune wine tasting and was hoping to bring a couple bottles for our next stop. We'll just put it in our checked luggage. Thanks! dlz
Donna - The basic answer is Yes - As long as it's in your stomach!!
But in checked luggage or by land, you can bring as much wine as you want, there are no customs restrictions between EU-countries anymore, as long as it is non-commercial. EU-guidelines say that up to 90 liters of wine is regarded ad non-commercial, over that limit, you have to make probable that it is for your own consumption.
If you buy at duty free, should be fine. I bought a bottle of whiskey in Dublin, and flew to Copenhagen, and on to Rome with it in my carry on.
