I booked a two leg flight to Heathrow through American Airlines. First, I fly American from DFW to ATL. In Atlanta, I catch a codeshare British Airways' flight to Heathrow. That's where the questions come in! Questions 1 - Does anyone know if I have to check in with BA separately, or since AA is the first flight I can check in for both legs with them? Can I pick a seat for the BA flight when I check in with AA? Question 2 - The BA web site says that if the customer is on an international flight, they must come to the BA check in desk even if they are already checked in. Does anyone know what that is about? I'm concerned because I only have an hour and twenty minutes between flights. Thank you all you battle-hardened airline warriors!
Check with them, but I believe they need you to check in at the Gate. That has happened to me before, the gate attendant periodically announced that
I can' answer 1, but for 2, they have to check your passport.
I've never flown AA-BA, but have done many international flights starting on United and switching to Lufthansa for the overseas portion. On our last trip, in fact, we started in Denver and switched in Atlanta. I've always been able to get seats for the entire trip at the initial check-in. By the check-in desk, I wonder if they mean the counter at the gate??
