I am renting a car in Calais. I've never been there before and I am not sure about something. I found a great car rental rate online which is only available from the downtown location. Does anyone know how difficult/expensive it is to get from the ferry to downtown Calais?
Thank you!
If it's P&O, they have a free shuttle bus that runs from the ferry to the center of town and to the train station on the south side. The city has buses as well, they probably cost a euro or two. Taxis are around the ferry when it shows up - - no idea of the cost.
If you walk to the town center, it's less than a mile by a bit, IF you use the route across the tidal gate of the eastern canal. Down to the train station it's probably closer to a mile.
Hi Ed, this car rental place says downtown but when I put it into RAC it's actually 3 miles from the ferry. Still walkable for me, but I'll have my luggage. I think I will take the shuttle and then the bus. That's a great suggestion.
Thanks!
