Hello, I need to get to Paris to catch afternoon train to Germany.Train schedules just came out and there are no trains leaving caen before 2 pm. in the afternoon.
Is my only choice to rent a car and drvie down? this is on a Monday.
You've got bum dope from somewhere. There's probably a dozen trains a day that chug out of Caen to Paris. They start around nine in the morning. Some take a couple of hours, some three.
The information is wrong on whatever timetable site you used. On weekdays direct morning trains from Caen to Paris depart at 06:03, 06:59, 07:36, 08:48, 10:03, and 11:47. See the timetables on the German Rail site. Enter a date no later than 8 June. The semi-annual European timetable update will take effect on 9 June.
Ed, what is your source of information??
Common knowledge and vast experience. Supplemented (and now modified) by what Tim said and he's always right.
Ed, that is a typical answer from a red neck from florida. I think its time
you give up the posts if your are not going to put comments like that on line
Oops. Let me clarify. People are looking for specific information. If you want to help people do so. You want to give people attitude , take a hike. I dont
have time for people like you.
Sorry if I miffed you, Jeff. I post only off the top of my head, but I spotted the problem and got you pointed in the right direction. Tim's an encyclopeida.
Here's the routine, instead of getting bogged down in sniping: www.tgv-europe.com On the opening page, pick "Other Countries". On the second page, pull down the "Train" menu and click on "Book Online". Enter your departure and arrival stations, one-way, class, number of tickets, age, and specify the country for ticket delivery (Antarctica works nicely.) Then search, finding frequent direct trains beginning just before 7 a.m. Bon voyage, and all aboard.
For future reference, you can usually find the answer to any train question yourself at www.seat61.com
Hmmmm, seemed that both Ed and Tim provided factual, helpful information.
Jeff, you may not have changed the default departure time when you checked the timetable. As suggested, set the departure time for the time you want to leave.
Ok, here is the situation. The morning train schedules are not posted yet for my dates of travel, rail europe and sncf do not have the full day schedule Db bahn has 2 morning trains posted but with 2 connections and between 4-5 hours of travel.I thought everything was posted inside of 90 days but I see that is not the case. Yes, I am sorry if I was miffed. But if someone is asking questions, I would have assumed the person has done some work. I have read many blogs on this site with numerous sarcastic responses. Just like the chic from Paris here. Factual?? the information wsa so vague initially, it was totally useless. I want to thank Ed and Tim for the clarification. Good day to all, moving on. Thanks.(Maybe I should have given specific travel dates to aid in response, but I am not comfortable
on line with that info.)
