Cable Car Cost Murren, Switzerland

I have searched all the posts and read a ton on hotels and whether we should stay in Murren, Wengen or down in the valley in Lauterbrunnen. I keep reading that it is expensive to take the cable car up to Murren but can't see where anyone has actually noted the cost (we'll have a Eurail pass but not a Swiss Pass) and this is a factor for us. Can anyone tell me what that is (each way) or where I can find it? I tried to play with the Switzerland train website without much luck. Thanks!

Thanks for that file but that includes fares focused on trips to and from Shilthorn. I'm just trying to find basic, one-way fares from Lauterbrunnen to Murren, Wengen or Gimmelwald.

According to the map found on page 125 of Rick's 2007 Switzerland guidebook, here are the fares:
Lauterbrunnen to Murren is 10CHF using the Grutsclap cable car/mountain route, or 20CHF using the bus/cable car from Stechelberg.
Lauterbrunnen to Wengen is 6CHF. Lauterbrunnen to Gimmelwald is 12CHF.

Thanks Michael!

I just got the Swizterland book last night and read a lot of at the gym this morning. Mine is a March 2008 reprint and I think I found the map you are referencing and this book has it on page 117 - I just didn't look at this one. Very helpful!

Ali:

This link will take you to the home page for all of the Jungfrau Region trains and lifts:

http://www.jungfraubahn.ch/en/DesktopDefault.aspx

If you go to the far right side of the page under importand links, you can click on individual fares, then click on the place you are starting from on the left, and then look at where you are going when that page opens, i.e. Lauterbrunnen to Murren is ChF 10.40 each way. It will automatically go to Interlaken Ost as the default when you open the individual fares.

I have another question along these lines...

I've searched the other posts as well and come across www.sbb.ch. Can someone tell me what "R" and "LB" stand for in terms of "Travel With." I'm assuming R is Rail, but I have no idea what LB is. The legend on the site doesn't list these.

Thanks!

R means regional train; in Switzerland this would usually be a narrow-gage mountain train. LB is a cable car.
