Cab service recommendations for Gatwick to Heathrow Airport

Traveling tomorrow for a trip. To catch another flight, I must land at Gatwick Airport and travel to Heathrow Airport. I would appreciate it if anyone could suggest some good and reliable cab services near Gatwick Airport for me to reach my destination hassle-free. I appreciate your valuable suggestions in advance.

I don't have a Gatwick local cab company but I will say that what most folks do is use the frequent coach service which directly links the two airports

The bus(coach) is the easiest by far, but in case you need an alternative, you could also take the Thameslink train from Gatwick to Farringdon station in London and change there onto the Elizabeth line to Heathrow.

I had to make this transfer in reverse and took the coach. Unless you have an extremely tight connection, the coach is a good value.

The trip had to be rescheduled for Friday due to some personnel issues. I apologize for the late update. First of all, thank you so much for giving your valuable suggestions. A friend who lives near Gatwick Airport suggested that taking a taxi to Heathrow Airport with my family would be the best choice for a hassle-free travel experience. As well, he recommended some cab services, such as Jewel Cars and Road Runners Gatwick, etc., that provide taxi services near Gatwick Airport.

From 9pm on Friday night there is a full closure of the M25 between junctions 10 and 11 for a bridge demolition. This is expected to cause a lot of congestion in the area.
And there will be preparatory works going on in that area beforehand.

That suddenly makes the via London train route look very attractive, as any road journey around there is going to be anything but hassle free, and will certainly have added journey time.

I wasn't aware of that information; thank you for sharing. Trains would not be comfortable for me as I will have a lot of luggage and will be traveling with my family, including a one-year-old. There are only a few options left for me, such as canceling or rescheduling the trip or taking a taxi that can drop me off at Heathrow Airport hassle-free via other routes.

If you are still interested in car services, you could see what Blackberry Cars or Just Airports or Addison Lee would charge for pre-arranged service.

All three have been mentioned on this board frequently.

With these, you will know the price ahead of time. With a taxi, the price is variable due to traffic and other conditions.

is your journey going to be after 9pm that evening? If earlier you'll miss the shutdown.

What time is your Heathrow flight?

Any good local driver will know ways around. I might be stuck in traffic but they will know the rat runs.

To add on to what Nigel wrote, the drivers will also have up to date GPS which shows traffic conditions and offers alternate routes.

Using GPS to avoid the official diversion routes is exactly what National Highways are nervous of-

https://nationalhighways.co.uk/our-roads/south-east/m25-junction-10/

This is a bit of an unknown quantity as to what will happen- both on the official diversion route, and also by people self diverting.

This is apparently one of 5 such closures this year.

With the nervousness from the authorities it is only right to make people aware of that, rather than just assuming that GPS will save the day. To budget for it taking significant extra time. Ultimately the airlines at either airport can't hold flights for people who weren't aware or who didn't budget extra time.

No one knows, it may all work wonderfully well.

There is a list here of various events over the weekend which are expected to be affected- https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/m25-closure-dates-alternative-routes-roads-diversion-delays-b1144862.html

(really for anyone else reading this thread)

The GPS will still come in handy. While most drivers may know an alternate route from Gatwick to Heathrow it won't be the way London Cabbies know "The Knowledge." The GPS will alert them to which diversion, alternate or not, has the worst traffic.

So, the GPS could give them the best alternate.

Of course, either way, extra time has to be given.
