I just purchased two train tickets directly from the Trenitalia website, but have not received an email confirmation. I checked my credit card and the charges are pending, but no email from Trenitalia. I have the retrieval code and so went in and submitted for a new confirmation email, but nothing yet. My travel is from Metaponto to Reggio Di Calabria on April 24, 2014. The tickets were for super economy, and very inexpensive 9 euro each. Almost too good to be true, and maybe not true since no email confirmation. I see the charges pending as $24.00. Has anyone any ideas? I called and got put on hold, so had to hang up. I emailed and they acknowledged that they received my email, but that's it. Anyone have similar experience with Trenitalia?
You might look at a previous post on this thread from Zoe on Jan. 14 headlined "heads up trenitalia PNR change" It offers some explanation although not for the total charge.
Is it possible that your credit card is possibly flagging the charge as unauthorized? I purchased tickets yesterday and the email came through immediately. You may want to notify your credit card company. Just a thought.
