Buying Train tickets for England travel

How does one purchase advance train tickets for travel in England. After spending a LONG time on First Great Western Train Site, I received the email below:

Our Address Search database only recognises UK postcodes, so we are unable to accept transactions from anywhere outside the UK. The card's billing address will be required to validate the online transaction. Our Development team is working on modifying the web site to accept these addresses in the future.
Since we do not have an International Tele Sales department at present, I suggest you buy your tickets on the day of travel from the station.
Any suggestions?? Thanks.

You could try booking at www.thetrainline.com and see if you have any better luck. They book tickets for all of the train companies in the UK and charge a small booking fee.

You can also book thru nationalrail.co.uk, which I believe uses the same booking engine as the train line. When you come to the point where you enter your credit card number, and it asks for a post code, there's a clickable link right underneath that says "enter international address." From there, you should be OK.

Thanks to everyone with the train question. I've been on national rail but didn't see the box I can check.
I want to purchase my tickets BEFORE I get to England so I save "some" money!!! You all have been very helpful with all my questions.

Miss B....as I mentioned, it's not a check box, but a hotlink....click on it, and it opens a similar page, asking for credit card number, etc.....but with name and address boxes for any place in the world. You must select "Collect via Ticket on Departure at the station" for this option to be available...both ticket delivery options aren't available for customers outside the UK.

Norm, I "finally" got my train tickets purchased from London to Reading and return. I used the nationalexpresseastcoast.com website. The "link" for international address popped up on this site. No problems. I was having trouble with the other websites and found that FirstGreatWestern website doesn't accept USA addresses.
Now hopefully I don't have a problem picking them up from the machine at Paddington Station. Thanks for all the help to you all.

I was a little concerned about the same thing when they wouldn't mail my train tickets (Kings Cross to Cambridge) to my U.S. address. but the FastTicket machines (at the train station where you will pick up your tickets) are very visible and simple to use.
