I'm working on version 17 or so, of my dream trip to see Europe from a train window this April. Right now, I am thinking of training from Poprad Tatry in Slovakia to Krakow, via Zilina/Bohumin/Katowice. I will have a Eurail global pass which will work in Slovakia but not in Poland. Where would be the best, most feasible place to buy the ticket for the part in Poland? In Poprad Tatry? Enroute but before I cross into Poland? Or should/could I buy it in Prague before I even leave there for Poprad Tatry?
Hi, I would try to get the ticket in Prague to cover the Polish segment of the ride, if it's sold there. I prefer getting it out of the way, if not in Prague, then in Slovakia before boarding.
To go from Poprad to Krakow via Zilina/Bohumin/Katowice is an enormous detour. Look under East where I already answered your question about scenic train ride. You will find that there is much shorter, faster and cheaper way to go.
Ilja, You're right! I completely forgot you had already given me that great advice! I tend to read messages and then "save" them intending to go back later and print them but obviously I didn't do that this time! I'll go back to the drawing board now and figure out how to do it your way. I like that way a lot! Tom
