is it possible to buy through the website while here in america to pay the cheap prices and still pic of the tickets at the station or print out the email confirmations? naturally usa raileurope charges twice or three times as much as the other sites. and i swear i did a search for the answer to this before posting
I purchased my TGV train tix from Geneva to Paris from the Swiss Rail www.sbb.ch with no trouble and printed them at home. I attempted to use the French TGV site first, but you can't tell the truth about being American or living in the USA or the website will automatically kick you out and connect you to the RailEurope site. I lied and told the French website I was Swiss, but it kicked me out at the very end with an Internal Server Error.
Conor - Where are you looking to travel to?
As Tim did, I am going from Geneva to Paris. I guess I will try the swiss rail site. Tim can i change langue or is it best not to on their site?
I've used http://www.tgv-europe.com/en/ without a problem for travel in France, but I've not done it starting from Switzerland. Select Great Britain as your country and see what happens.
The Swiss rail site is very user friendly. No need to a language other than English unless you want to practice French or German. From Geneva to Paris it will show you the voice of trains, including the TGV. Just walk through the steps, choose the type of seat you want ( reservation is included in the price) and then pay. You will get a confirmation code that you use to pick up the ticket inSwitzerland. You could also have it mailed to you but that costs extra. For any journey originating in Switzerland, going to either France or Italy, this is a good way to go.
