Buying rail pass supplements at kiosks

I will be traveling with a global rail pass this spring. It's been a while and I can't remember, is is possible to purchase a supplemental ticket when necessary from a kiosk? I know some places require a "chip & pin" card to work at the kiosks - am in the process of obtaining one. Thanks

We have always bought our supplements at a ticket counter with real money and a real person. We don't use rail passes any more.

Many kiosks have a cash option and will make change up to 20 euro.
