Buying Night Train tickets from Lisbon to Madrid

Has anyone had recent experience on buying train tickets for the overnight train (Lusitania) from Lisbon to Madrid? I've read many blogs and tips about purchasing from Renfe.com and am prepared for the challenging website. I found the initial screen showed one price. After selected the same cabin class in the sequent screen, the price went up a bit. Then, when I entered the CC details and clicked on buy, the price changed again and I have to go back and start again. Anyone has similar experience or advices?

Does anybody know if the promo discount fares are available now? Is it 90 or 62 days in advance? We want to leave on the 8/29 night train from Lisbon. Appreciate suggestions or even recommendation of the 3rd party agents. Euro is relatively low now, perhaps paying a little more to the agent is worth it?

Thanks

Your tickets are for sale now. On Renfe, I hope you saw the "Options" link to choose a bed instead of a seat. If you have a PayPal account, that's and easier way to pay with Renfe. Or try www.petrabax.com, which should also sell a similar advance-discount rate.

Either use the petrabax website or Paypal on RENFE. Trying to pay with a US credit card on RENFE rarely works.

just booked on Renfe.com using PayPal. The transaction went through quickly like any US websites. Pretty sure the issue was between Renfe and the US cc companies.

Glad it worked. Yes, the RENFE website is notorious for not working well with US credit cards.
