Buy train tickets at Venice airport??

Hi, I am arriving in Venice on a friday at 4:30 pm. I am trying to figure out where to buy train tickets for the following monday morning. Is there a travel agency in the airport that sells them? I will be staying near San Marco square so going to the train station on the weekend seems time consuming. Or has anyone bought tickets from the Oltrex or Kele Teo Viaggi Turismo travel agencies? I am trying to make the best use of my time. I would prefer not to go directly from the airport to the train station to buy the tickets on friday but that may be the best option. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks.

I have ALWAYS bought my tickets at the train station the day of my departure. Research ahead of time which train you want to catch and get there early enough to have time to buy your tickets. I always use the automated kiosks in the lobby. The machines are very user friendly and take credit cards. No need to purchase ahead of time. And, if by some chance the train is sold out, you can always catch the next one. Trains run quite frequently between cities. Don't waste your time hunting down a train ticket.

I have used Kele Teo agency. There was a short queue for service, but everything went quickly and smoothly once it was my turn. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. My recollection is that they are only open Saturday morning on weekends.

How are you getting from the Airport to the hotel? Unless you are taking a water taxi (an expensive proposition) you will have to pass close to the railway station when you arrive. The airport bus will take you to the Roma square and the station is just accross a bridge from there. You can then catch a vaporetto outside the station to San Marco.

However, buying a ticket the day of departure should not be a problem. Remember to validate it before you board the train!

Thanks everyone. I was under the impression that I needed to buy my reserved train tickets days ahead of time. We are travelling to Pisa (via Florence) that monday morning and then on to Vernazza, so it will be long day requiring us to get out of Dodge(Venice) early!
