On weekdays the Marozzi bus leaves Roma Tiburtina at 15:00 and arrives in Sorrento at 19:00. On Saturdays and Sundays there is a bus that leaves at 07:00 and arrives at 10:45. The 15:00 bus also runs on Saturdays and Sundays. The Curreri bus also runs between Rome and Sorrento, but their website says that currently no service is available. The site says that service will be restored, but no date is given. For frequent service throughout the day, take a high-speed Trenitalia train from Roma Termini to Napoli Centrale. Go to the lower level of the station and take a Circumvesuviana commuter train from there to Sorrento. If you book Rome-Naples well in advance on the Trenitalia site, you can get a discount fare.

Depending on the ages of your children, one or both may not need train tickets - check the Trenitalia site for information.
