busing around amalfi coast from Positano

I went to a talk by Julie Coen last week on Amalfi coast and she said that because we have a condo rented in Positano for a week due to crowding of buses (?they won't stop) we will be "stuck". We are going the end of May. She said the only option is the ferries, but only in good weather. Have other travelers experienced this problem? Are early and late buses easier to get on for touring around the area?

Yes it is true that the buses have got more crowded over the years (we have been holidaying in Sorrento in Spring and Autumn for over 30 years now) and the season has got longer so end of May is quite busy now. Add to that the deterioration in services and, from last year the shrinkage of one of the main ferry services which used to take some of the load, it has become less and less pleasant to use public transport. And on a personal note, our tolerance level has dropped with the rise in our ages! During April/May and Oct/Nov - if we want to visit Positano or Amalfi we leave it until after 10am and are prepared to wait until after 6 pm to start our journey back to Sorrento. It did not help that last year saw lightning strike action (due to unpaid wages) and a range of weather related blockages. It makes me sad to see this happening but think how much worse it is for the local population who have to rely on the bus services to get to school, work, doctor's ap'ts etc. I am still amazed at their continuing tolerance of us foreign visitors crowding their buses, even if we are contributing to the local economy!
