Bus/Train Travel between Toulous and either Pt. Lauragais or Capestang

I'm hoping for some help here. In July 2014 we will be renting a self guided canal barge on the Canal du Midi. Our problem is that we will not know until 2 weeks in advance whether we will be going from Pt. Lauragais to Capestang, or the opposite direction. We will be traveling with two other couples. We have elected to meet in Toulous several days before we get the barge. I am having a real difficult time trying to figure out what train stations might serve either Pt. Lauragais or Capestang. I'm having a harder time trying to find bus service. Luckily I have a year to do this. Any help would be appreciated.

Looks like your best bet is the local train to Avignonet, which is about 3 miles or so from Port Lauragais.

Probably your boat rental agency deals with this question all the time since many if not all their clients will face the same situation.

Generally either the boat website or the package of junk they send you will show how to get to the marina. There's probably no reason to even think about getting advance discounted tickets for that little jog. Just show up and go. What you do need to think about is stocking the boat with grub. The convenience-type stores in the marinas are pricey and have limited choices. At Capestang it's a good half mile walk from the boat bars to the Intermarche in the middle of town. I can't picture a store other than the highway rest stop at Port Lauragais, but there's probably something over in Avignonet (two miles ?).
