I will be staying in Belfast next year, but would like to take a day trip to Dublin. Any comments or suggestions on the best way to go - bus, train, or car?

There is a high speed train between the two cities.

Definitely take the train. It is very convenient and a relatively short trip.

Train is your best bet. Traffic gets very congested in Dublin city.
Outside the train staton you can get the Dart into the city cenrte.
