Bus Nürnberg - Prague with Bayern-Böhmen ticket

Hello, I am planning on traveling from Munich to Prague and making a stop for a few hours in Nürnberg. I know it is possible to use a Bayern-Böhmen ticket until Pilzen, but I haven´t been able to find out whether it is possible to use this ticket on the buses that leave Nürnberg and arrive at Prague about three hours later or if it is ok to use it only with the train which takes five hours to get to Prague from Nürnberg. For either case I would also like to know where could I buy the tickets from Pilzen to Prague and what their price is.
Thanks a lot for any reply!

"would you happen to know if this ticket is valid, for example, for a a Railjet train?" No! A Railjet is definitely not a a regional train. From the OEBB homepage, you'll see a link for "Erweiterte Suche". Click it. On the next page, you see a check box for Einfach-Raus-Ticket (in red). Check it and you will get a notification that the Einfach-Raus-Ticket is only valid on regional trains from 9 AM to 3 AM the next morning. As long as that box is checked, you will only get schedules for trains for which the Einfach-Raus-Ticket is valid. Note also that the Einfach-Raus-Ticket can only be used for groups of 2-5, not for a single traveler. I think that is stupid, too. What I tell people they can do is, go to the Bahn website and book an advance purchase Europa-Spezial ticket, starting at €39, from Vienna to Munich. Watch out for the ICE, RE connections, they cross the border at Passau, not Salzburg. The pure RJ connections make a stop in Salzburg. When you get to Salzburg, get off the train to get a sandwich, smoke, whatever. Take your luggage with you. It's never wise to leave it on the train, unattended. Forget to get back on.

Lee, THE German rail expert, should be along shortly but till then. The pass doesn't work on the bus or through trains to Prague. It gets you to the border and from there you need to buy a ticket at the train station for the trip to Prague.

The Nuernberg-Prague bus takes 3h37m to 3h45m. That's not "about 3 hours ...". No, the Bayern-Boehmen ticket cannot be used on the bus. Full fare on the bus is €48 per person in 2nd class. For 92 days advance purchase the fare starts at €19. When the €19 fares sell out, the new advance purchase tickets are higher. The ticket for 10:41 this Friday is at €34 pP 2 cl. Tickets purchased less than three days in advance are full fare. I am no longer convinced that you can use the Bayern-Boehmen ticket for the direct trains to Prague, although I am checking on it. Those trains leave Nuernberg as ALX but change to EX at the Czech border. It used to be that the EX was considered a regional train, but since the change of schedules last month, EX only appear if "only local transport" is not chosen. Only slower Os, Sp, and R trains show up with "only local transport". The Bahn page for the Bayern-Boehmen now specifies that the ticket is valid on R, Os, and Sp trains (it used to include EX). However, the Bayern-Boehmen brochure still includes EX. There is no fare (fair) reason for this change except to protect the Bahn's bus business. Whether you go from Nuernberg to Prague using an EX, or one of the regional trains, the full fare is €53,30, the same. The Bahn fare from Furth im Wald, a few km from the border, is €26,90 by either EX or R,Os. From Domazlice, the first stop in the CR to Prague, the Czech fare is the same, 218 Kc, whether by EX, R, Os, or Sp. However, you can still make the trip by direct ALX/EX using a €21/29 Bayern-Ticket to the border and a Czech Rail ticket for about €10 pP to Prague. This is assuming that they charge Czech fares once the train is in the CR. The Bahn details say that you can buy tickets on the train.

Hi Frank and Lee, thank you very much for the information. I´d just like to ask you one more thing now that I was able to contact you. I want to buy an einfach raus ticket for a train ride from Vienna to Salzburg. I was checking the öbb time table but I haven´t found a type of train for which this ticket is valid, since in the ticket description it says that it is only valid for regional trains and not for IC or EC trains, would you happen to know if this ticket is valid, for example, for a a Railjet train?

And this, "That ticket is valid on EX trains as well," from the Bahn.

Jaspal, I've already answered most of these questions from your PM. However: I'm not sure what a Munich visitor's pass might include, but the MVV "Partner" transit passes are all day for the inner zone only (10,20 €), all day for the inner two zones (München XXL, 13,10 €), all day outer zones (10,20 €), and all day all zones (20,- €). The only multi day pass is for the inner zone only for three consecutive days (23,70 €). Everything visitors usually see, except Dachau, is in the inner zone. If you go to Dachau one day, get the XXL ticket for that day. The rest of the time, use an inner zone (Innenraum) ticket. Information on the Munich City Tour Card can be found here (www.citytourcard-muenchen.com). For Bayerisch Eisenstein to Munich, you want to use a Bayern-Ticket, not a Bayern-Böhmen-Ticket (unless you are going back into the CR that day). Neither ticket will be valid past 3 AM the day following the day of validity (7th). You will need separate tickets to the airport. If you stay in Freising, that would be a 20 min, 2,50€/adult, 1,20€ child, bus ride.
