Hi, I'm going to be staying in Siena in July and my boyfriend and I would like to do an overnight to a beach town. What is the easiest beach to get to by public transit? Thank you!

Kristin, Siena is about 40 miles East of the Med.

Hi Bob, Yes, I am aware, but I have read online that there is coach service that goes to the seaside. Sorry if I was confusing using the term public transit...I tend to think of all buses as public transit! Basically, I want to go not by car and not spend more than an hour and a half or so in transit each way, if possible. Train is fine, too, but I wasn't sure there were too many connections from Siena.

You could go by train to Viareggio, which is a beach resort town just north of Pisa. Train trip takes about 2 hours and costs about 10 euro each way.
