bus from florence to montepulciano

Hello, I will be arriving in Florence on Friday evening, Aug. 9, and need to be in Montepulciano by early afternoon on Sunday, Aug. 11. Is there a bus on Sundays from Florence to Montepulciano? Or should I plan on going to Montepulciano on Saturday? Is the bus direct from Florence to Montepulciano or would I need to change buses somewhere, like in Chiusi? Would this be the SITA bus, or a different bus company? Thank you very much!
Aloha, Anne

Take a train from Florence (FIRENZE S.M.N.) to CHIUSI-CHIANCIANO TERME. From the CHIUSI-CHIANCIANO T. station you can take a bus up to Montepulciano. The bus ride from Chiusi Scalo (CHIUSI-CHIANCIANO T. station) is 50 min. Alternatively you can also go to the MONTEPULCIANO station by train (change in Chiusi-Chianciano T. or even via Siena). The Montepulciano station is 15 min by bus from the town of Montepulciano. Another alternative is bus from Florence to Siena, then bus from Siena to Montepulciano. No matter what, buses aren't frequent on Sundays (if available at all). Therefore traveling on Saturday would be better. TRAIN SCHEDULES: http://www.trenitalia.com BUS SCHEDULES:

A few years back, I departed Montepulciano on a Sunday and there were buses running to Chiusi train station (although fewer than other days). I suspect it's still the same, and your Montepulciano hotel should be able to confirm that. Best option from Florence on a Sunday morning will likely be train to Chiusi and bus to Montepulciano.
