Can someone tell me how you pay your bus fine if you have already left the country? My friend was on the way to the airport and was fined. The fine is now escalating and she cant find out how to pay it.
Linda, I don't know the answer, but just curious on whether she was offered the option to pay it on the spot?
She didnt have any money with her at the time. She has phoned the Italian Embassy and her embassy at home but they couldnt help.
Linda, A few more questions..... > Which city was your friend in (ie: which Bus line was she using)? > Did the Inspector record details such as her Passport or D.L. number? > Was your friend travelling on a U.K. Passport? > Did she forget to buy or validate a ticket? I'll try to find out a few more details on the fines, but no guarantees. Cheers!
Linda, your friend should be able to find the bus line's website (example: in Rome, it's www.atac.roma.it) and the rule should be explained there (there should be a choice of languages, if not, get a google translation). Your friend may be able to send an online payment, or send one through the mail (I'd Fedex it just to be sure it arrives), with a letter (preferably including an Italian translation).
