Is there a good route from budapest to Venice on a night train? Or would it be best to back track back to Vienna and then take the night train from there? Traveling with 5 in our family --- 3 boys, my hubby and me. First time for a night train, so I want it to be a good experience (for a night train!) Thoughts?
There is a direct night train. It leaves Budapest-Keleti pu at 17:05 and arrives at Venezia Santa Lucia at 07:16. The five of you could all sleep in a 6-person couchette, but you would need to be prepared to share the couchette with a stranger. Or if your boys are old enough, they could share a 3-bed sleeper and you and your husband could share a 2-bed sleeper.
