My colleague and I are taking the Eurostar this weekend from London to Brussels train station. From Brussels train station, we need to find a CHEAP & EASY way to get to Hamburg, Germany.
Can anyone give us advice on cheap transportation between these cities - we are not picky on luxury or time.
Hamburg is a major rail hub. When I went it was by train.
Unfortunately, about the best, inexpensive way to get to Hamburg, a German Rail Europa-Spezial Belgium ticket, requires an advance purchase of three days, so the earliest you could travel now would be Saturday, if you book right away. The best fare, €39 pP o/w are already sold out; when I checked, they still had €59 fares available. The Europa-Spezial fare utilizes express train (ICE/IC/EC).
On Saturday or Sunday, you could also get from the German-Belgian border near Köln to Hamburg using regional trains and one €37 Schönes-Wochenende-Ticket for both of you.
