Brussels airport plane change time

Is 55 minutes enough time for a plane change at the airport in Brussels? We are arriving from Montreal 08:35 am transferring to Madrid - 09:25 am - all Air Canada ticketing - I wouldn't do it Toronto but I am not sure of the Brussels airport size etc. Anyone have experience?
Thanks

As I recall, Brussels airport is a poster child for the "You must pass through the duty free mall to get anywhere" theory of airport design. I'd just check who is operating the connecting flight to Madrid to see what the later flights are. If Air Canada says it is a legal connection, and there are later connecting flights, I guess I'd give it a try. You'd be protected to get on the next flight.

With the usual disclaimer --- IF YOUR PLANE IS ON TIME - you should be fine. However, to improve your chances try to sit as close to the exit doors as you can. One year we were careless about seat assignment and ended up in the far back, right hand corner. Close to the last people off some 25 minutes after the doors were opened. We missed our connecting flight since it was about 15 minutes late.

I think I will book through Frankfurt with a 2 hour layover - I have done that before
Longer day but less stressful
