Brusseles Central trainstation

My husband and I am traveling from Paris to Brusseles and only have a few hours in Brussels. We will do the Old town walk and want to check our bags in the train station while we do the siteseeing walk. Is there a limit to the size? My daughter who lives in Holland thinks this is a bad idea with security and all but the train website still says you can self check bags. Not much info is given though about checking bags.

In addition to the lockers there is a luggage hold desk. If you're having doubts about the lockers use the desk. They should be able to handle most any sized luggage.

The train station website indicated it wasn't a manned situation.

It is. What website are you using? As you walk up the stairs towards the main ticket counters, the luggage counter sits to your right.

My last visit to Centraal Station was two years ago. At that time all the lockers were vandalized and unusable so the luggage hold desk was the only option. Others have reported they have since been replaced/repaired. I just checked the Belgian rail website, and you are correct the desk is now closed so lockers are the only option.

If you're travelling that route by train, you'll arrive at Brussels South/Midi station, just a few blocks from the downtown area. There are lockers, and a manned left-luggage office at that station.

I'll probably be there in August. If you trip is later than that, I'll let you know what the situation is with the left luggage desk.

MJ,

The station you arrive in from Paris is not the one in the heart of Brussels. You will need to take one metro line, transfer to another metro line in order to get to the Old town walk.

Yes, I'm aware of that. We'll either leave our luggage at that station or take it on and leave it in the lockers at Centrale. Hard to believe that they have self storage in these times of such heightened security. Thanks to all who sent info for me.
