I just looked at rail prices for a trip from Brugge to Berlin, it was 130 Euro and 8 hrs. Is it possible to fly from Brugge to Berlin? What would the cost be?
For the day route, take ICE 11 leaving Brussels at 06:59 and ICE 857 leaving Koeln at 09:49. Here are the timetables for your travel date: http://tinyurl.com/225qjo.
Check www.easyjet.com for flights from Brussels International to Berlin Schoenfeld. Booked far enough in advance, fares can be as low as €20.
SparNight fares on the Brussels-Berlin night train are €39 for a bunk in a six-person couchette and €49 for a bunk in a four-person couchette. And you save the cost of a night in a hotel. Book at http://buchung.nachtzugreise.de. Click on the British flag for English.
You can save money on the day trains by booking the Brussels-Koeln and Koeln-Berlin legs separtely at www.bahn.de. Click on "Internat. Guests for English. The Brussels-Koeln leg is €42. Depending upon availability, the Dauer-Spezial fares for Koeln-Berlin are €29 and €49. (The standard fare is €98.)
Tim- Thanks for the information. The easy jet flight is not avalilable until 10/29. I want to do the flight on 9/19.
If I choose the train route you suggest, is the stop in Koeln on the way, or would I have to go another route? This is an 8 hr trip as it is.

Transavia.com connect Amsterdam Schiphol with Berlin Tegel. SN Brussels airlines fly from Brussels to div. airports in Berlin. And yes, you can also spent 8 hours on a train (which is an entire day of your vaccation) for €131... Also you could take a train to Cologne airport (round about 4 hours from Brugge) and then take TUIfly, AirBerlin or Germanwings to Berlin... Total journey time that way would be around 5 to 5 1/2 hours...
