Britrail travel in England

Do the trains run on Sundays? We will be staying overnight in Cambridge and would like to leave from there and take the train to York. I've looked at the Britrail web site, but can't figure out if the train we want runs on Sundays. We will be in England in early June. Thanks!

To get discount fares, book well in advance (up to 12 weeks) at eastcoast.co.uk. Discount fare tickets are for a specific departure date and time and are non-exchangeable and non-refundable. Be sure you can commit before booking.

Cambridge is not on the main East Coast route to York, it is off to the east. Its a bit early to get much of an idea about which, if any, weekend engineering works would affect your journey. If none, the normal route would be a Cross Country train from Cambridge via Ely to Peterborough and change there to an East Coast train to York. An alternative, probably less attractive, is to go southwest on a First Capital Connect train to Hitchin ro Stevenage and connect there to an East Coast train. Services are less frequent on Sundays, start quite a bit later in the day and are always subject to weekend engineering work. Those works are when the tracks are maintained and are published 12 weeks in advance or so.
