BritRail Pass Help

Hello!

My husband and I will be traveling around England for several weeks in May, and I am having a hard time trying to figure out what would be more cost effective for our travel between cities in regard to rail passes/tickets. Here is our itinerary:

Wed, May 8 : Arrive in Heathrow and go to Canterbury
Fri, May 10: Day-trip to Dover and then back to Canterbury
Sun, May 13: Canterbury to Oxford
Tues, May 15: Oxford to Gloucester
Fri, May 18: Gloucester to Bath
Sun, May 20: Bath to London
Sun, May 27: Leave from Heathrow

Any recommendations on rail tickets to save the most money?
Thanks!

Regarding BritRail passes, the closest match is the London Plus Pass at 8 travel days within a month for $274 per person but it doesn't cover the line running Worcester-Gloucester-Bristol, so you'd have to buy that separately. There's no 6-day version. Or consider a Two Together Card to save about 30% off tickets as you go, without necessarily having to book in advance; see info and links at https://www.ricksteves.com/travel-tips/transportation/trains/britain-rail-passes.

You will find the schedules & fares at www.nationalrail.co.uk
For longer journeys - such as Bath to London (Paddington), pre-booking about 11 weeks out will get you lower prices - for specific trains. Even buying the day before can be cheaper. Some fares stay the same or the price drops for departures outside the peak commuting times on weekdays.

You would be more likely to get responses for this question in the England forum rather than under ‘transportation’.
