BritRail Pass

I am going to Britain in July. Should I get a BritRail pass now or wait until I arrive in England? Is there a difference in price? Thanks for your advice.

Hi,
It is much better to buy in advance as the BritRail passes are not available in Britain.
The Prices are higher if you buy tickets in Britain.
My advice – buy a BritRail pass in advance to get a much better deal!
Best greetings
Ben

First, click on the Railpasses tab at the top of the page you're reading now. You will find lots of helpful information.

Second, walk-up fares for longer routes in the UK are very expensive, making a railpass a good deal for spontaneous and flexible travel, particularly if you're going to be taking lots of rides. However, if you can commit to specific dates and times well in advance, discount fares for longer routes can be very cheap, making them a better deal than a pass.

The point-to-point fare estimates in the Railpasses section are for standard 2nd class tickets. If you wish to know the actual cost of all fares, go to www.nationalrail.co.uk and use the Journey Planner. Enter a date 30-60 days from today for the routes you choose to see if discount fares are sold for those routes.
