Britpass a bargain for Seniors?

We're over 65. Traveling throughout England & Scotland in September & early October. Flying in and out of Brussels from USA. Taking fast train both ways between Brussels and London. Noticed that there are Senior train fares between Brussels and London and around UK. Do these Senior fares significantly reduce the benefits of a BritPass? Do Britpass holders get a deep discount below that of the regular, non-pass, Senior fares?

Can't help with the BritPass, but as I work in the railway industry I can say that you cannot just get senior fares from British railway companies. In the UK you will need each to but a Senior Railcard for £26 each which will get you 1/3 off most fares.

If a Britpass is better than that, adding up all your p-p fares, you may be better off.

Also, I'm afraid I can't help with any Eurostar discounts as I don't know how they treat seniors.

Have a wonderful trip!

There is a special fare on the Eurostar for passholders, but it is more than what you will pay if you book tickets well in advance (up to 120 days) at www.eurostar.com. The passholder fare is 50 GBP each way. The best senior return (roundtrip) discount fare is 64 EUR.

Seniors can get a 15% discount on a 1st class BritRail pass, but that still will cost more than a standard 2nd class pass.

I don't know about the rail costs, but I suggest you inquire everywhere about senior discounts. In England last spring, at age 58 and 61 we asked for and often received some sort of discount, ranging from admissions to stately homes to London theatre. Interestly, when overheard by locals in line with us, they expressed surprise that such discounts were available. Perhaps they are not as widely promoted as here at home, where we relish the chance to save even a quarter on our McD's senior coffee. Have a great time!

Museums often have several tiers of admission prices. Concessions for seniors will save 1-2 GBP often. This also applies to Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, etc. I've never had to show ID proving my age. If you have gray hair it's easy. I suppose if you look 25 it might not work.
