British Airways refund policy

Is understanding this arcane system only possible for a few Illuminati? I see how to view the ‘selling class’ in advance when viewing fares. Does the Club World full fare class ‘J’ mean I can cancel for a full refund? Does a discounted Club World ‘I’ class mean fuggetaboutit? Where does a non-Illuminati find out? I’ve spent 45 minutes trying to find this out and I’m no closer. 🤨

edit- I guess ‘R’ is also a discounted fare so that probably means less refund. So only a ‘J’ full fare would be fully refundable?

I was happy with BAs refund process. I had a "non refundable" business class ticket. Family member became very ill and I had to cancel my trip. They refunded everything except my seat reservation payment for a 10% penalty. No insurance involved. I was very happy.

I know that doesn't really answer your question. And I do agree it seems to take a law degree to decipher what you find to get the simple answer to the question "is it refundable?" There is a lot of text about what the fees and conditions are for every ticketing class, but nothing specific to the ticket you have bought. Frustrating.

Perhaps ask BA to explain/decode things for you?

Flyertalk is a good resource for questions like this.

We have canceled and re-booked Club World tickets for a $125 fee, but they were booked with Avios (BA miles), not paid tickets.
