Has anyone travelled with a roll aboard and a daypack size backpack without issue? Have a stopover in London for 36 hours and am not sure I want to bother hauling checked luggage or chancing it not arriving. I’ve never had an issue with taking both as carryon with Air Canada, but BA seems stingier.

Does not seem stingy to me.
The last few times I've been on Euro Traveler, I've had to check my bag, even when others didn't. I'd make sure to get all my items that I want out of the bag before hand. I will say my luggage arrived in Barcelona however we were delayed and my bag that was first to get loaded was the last to come out on the caracul-I almost thought they lost it.
Heather- Have you had to check the carry-on because of its size, or because there wasn't any room left in the overhead bins?
Over 100 lbs of carry on. That would be interesting to watch someone manage.
I usually check bags when on British Airways and, so far, have had no difficulties. Of course, challenges can happen on any flight at any` time. I don’t think there is consistent enforcement of carryon standards because I’m pretty sure most of the people on my flights in December would have been way over the limits. However, you never know if you are going to get a gate agent or crew that does enforce…..
My prediction is that you would be fine as long as the daypack fits under the seat in front of you.
No problems with BA Eurotraveler carryon plus a “personal bag.” Now, EasyJet … they’re stingier.
I fly almost exclusively with BA and in all my time I've never witnessed any luggage being measured and considering what some people bring on board it would seem that it's a free for all. There have been many occasions where a request has been made for volunteers to check luggage for free at the gate due to a full flight. Personally I wish they would be more strict with carry on bags as it would help considerably with the overcrowding of the overhead bins.
BA has one of the most lenient carry on policies in all of Europe.
Air Canada:
--Carry On: 55 x 40 x 23 cm (no weight)
--Personal Item: 43 x 33 x 16 (no weight)
British Airways:
--Carry On: 56 x 45 x 25 (23 kg)
--Personal item: 40 x 30 x 15 (23 kg)
BA allows a bigger main carry on and Air Canada allows a slightly larger personal item. The weight should be insignificant as I doubt you are carrying more than 46 kg.
