British Airways Check In Delays

If you are traveling on BA soon or changing planes at Gatwick or Heathrow, it would be worth checking your flight.

Computer problems starting in the US have spread around other places causing huge delays and some cancelled flights because BA cannot check people in by computer causing them to have to do it all manually.

BA have apologised but haven't yet solved the problem.

the info I am hearing on the news in the UK is that BA are suggesting people to Check-in online if they can and print off boarding passes.

Yes, it is a real problem. My flight that should have departed from the US at 20:00 last night is still sitting here going nowhere. They are now saying it will probably be 21:00 tonight before it goes, but don't leave the boarding area in case they decide to go sooner.

My word Mark! Hope you get going soon!

I appreciate the info. Am I correct that this is just affecting the BA flights out of LHR and LGW? I do understand that issues at hubs can back things up elsewhere. I have a BA flight on Friday from VIE to LHR but it is still showing as scheduled.

The app is useless as far as I can tell. No information at all on there about any problems. Plus having difficulty making it stay in English rather than flipping to German since Im in Austria.

Nigel, thank you for the information. I'm flying BA to Heathrow from Denver Friday evening; hopefully the problems will be resolved by then. For the rest of you waiting to take off, fingers crossed this all gets sorted out soon-and so do you! Not fun to have to hang around the airport for several hours!

It is affecting more than just the UK originating flights. There was local news today about stranded travelers at ATL. They didn't get manually checked in so their flight departed without them, or so the story went.

The issue is system wide for BA. All flights everywhere are impacted. They are not talking much about it, keeping it quiet. There is a note on their web page that states things are returning to normal but you should still check in and print your boring pass before arriving at the airport. Also to allow extra time if you have to check bags or talk to someone.

Nigel - As always, thanks for the information. On a side note when we were traveling from LHR - PHX this past June, BA was having issues with their new software that had been installed. We were asked to delay our check-in by an hour.
