Brighton to France

We are participating in a home exchange this summer. We will be staying in a small village near Brighton. We plan to meet with family in Paris. I believe there is a ferry to Dieppe. How would we then get to Paris? Would we be better off going to London and to Paris from there? Thanks so much

Your ferry choice is Newhaven-Dieppe. See www.directferries.co.uk. You can take a train from Brighton to Newhaven Harbour. From Dieppe you would take a train to Rouen and change there for a train to Paris. See the timetables at www.bahn.de.

On the other hand, you could take a Southern train directly from Brighton to Ashford International, leaving at 07:32 and arriving at 09:16. The fare is £18.10. See the Journey Planner at www.nationalrail.co.uk. Then take the Eurostar to Paris, leaving at 10:58. You'll need to book the Eurostar well in advance (up to 180 days allowed) to get the best fare and to be certain of getting a seat.
