Box Lunch for Trains

Does anyone have any experience asking a restaurant or cafe to prpeare a boxed lunch to take on the trains in Paris. We face a 5 or 6 hour train from Paris to Cahors and the train food is not good so thought this might be an option? Any suggestions?
Thanks

Haven't attempted to get a boxed lunch from a restaurant in Paris, but bread, cheese, pastries, ham, salami, and other wonderful goodies can be purchased in abundance there, so you should be able to get together some good eats for the trip.

The train stations in Paris are full of food for travelers. I usually just load up with a sandwich and canned drink at the station. Another option is to stop by a bakery and pick up pizza/small quiche/ sandwich, etc.

Grocery stores in Paris have a wide variety of prepared meals-on-the-go...or purhcase the fixings for a "picnic" on the train.

Paris is full of "to go" places. Flo is one chain. The key word is "emporter".

We always prepared our own lunches for the long train trips.

Which station are you departing from? I can give a recommendation of locations near the station.

Our experience in eating on trains has been extensive in all parts of Western Europe. But don't go to a restaurant...hit the SUPER MARKET where you can find a deli counter which offers salads, potato salad, fried fish and chicken and sandwiches. Big choice and much cheaper. We also buy fruit, canned drinks, chips and water.
