BOS-Rome to Sicily, Baggage claim?

I’m departing tonight from BOS to FCO. Then second leg is FCO to Palermo.
I’m checking my one luggage piece.

In FCO I go to immigration. After immigration do I get my BOS luggage at baggage claim and then go to customs,
and Then proceed to Ryan Air check in and check my luggage to Palermo?

OR
Will my luggage go from BOS to Palermo and I go through customs in Palermo?

I already have my boarding pass for Ryan Air tomorrow, 10/18/22

I have 4 hours from FCO arrival to my Ryan Air flight to Palermo.

My flights are BOS-Delta, Palermo- Ryan Air

Since these are on separate tickets, and aren't alliance partners, you will have to pick up your luggage in Rome and check it in with Ryanair.
