booking Vueling online?

Has anyone had trouble booking online with Vueling? I've tried several times over the last 3 days, & it keeps rejecting my credit card. (Yes, we tried another card...same results). I will call Spain if necessary...but was wondering if for some reason they don't take U.S.-issued credit cards?

I, too, had trouble; but the problem was with my cc company. They were rejecting the charge, because it was a sudden use in a foreign country. I explained I was using the charge to buy tickets in Spain; and the next time I tried the Vueling website, the charge went through.

Thanks....At least I know someone else has had trouble. I tried 2 different cards just now with no luck....but I'll keep trying periodically. If all else fails, it's back to the telephone for another try.

I called my CC company & they said they had no record of any charges being turned down or blocked. Tried the site again...no luck. (I'm using a Master Card.) Gave up & called the # in Spain....got a rapid-fire-Spanish recording asking me (I think) to consult their website (!!!)...& probably to hold...& hold..& hold for an operator (not sure...yo hablo un poquito espanol). Anyone else had this problem? I'm giving the correct CC # plus the security code, etc.

I had the same problem on Wednesday trying to book a flight from Barcelona to Paris. I tried a few more times and no luck. But I tried again about 20 minutes ago and it did work. So i would suggest trying again and maybe it will work.

Jean - Just thought I'd check because I don't remember this being mentioned... Are you selecting the card type that has the additional 5.50 fee? I never have had a problem with my US credit card on Vueling, Easyjet and several other European websites for museums and trains. One of my friends had problems but she thought she was going to avoid the credit card fee and wasn't selecting the correct card type.

Yes...I selected MC w/the 5.50 fee (credit, not debit card). I even tried another Master Card.

Jean, thank goodness you posted thsi, I had a TERRIBLE time with Vueling taking my CC, I KNEW my CC was fine, I actaully contacted the customer service people( by email) and they at first suggested the usaul problems( check information is entered correctly , make sure limilt is not exceeded , and check bank is not blocking it)
Well I contacted my bank and like you I was told that they hadn't blocked anything since VUELING had not even "communitcated" with them at all, no charges had even been submitted.
I was so frustrated, the service guy I was communicating with said to email my CC # and then would complete the transaction that way, I refused as it was a non secure email.
So I just kept trying anyways( I have no idea why). About two days later it accepted my husbands CC. Just like that. I had tried using my husbands CC at one point in the process before and it had been rejected too, so I have NO explanation.
I explained to the fellow at Vueling that I had NO trouble booking m

my hotel in Rome, or my hotel in Paris, or paying for transalantic flights with my card,, it was just their website.

He said he would " look into if their bank was the problem?" .

I think more foriegners should contact them to let them know that it IS their problem, not ours. I was developing a complex that it was only happening to me. LOL

PS I use a Canadain CC.

Hi Pat...I called Vueling before I saw your posts. Finally got through to an operator, who told me the problem was NOT their website...but then said that they couldn't take my CC over the phone either!!! Said there was a 7 euro-per-tkt charge for booking by phone, but that they couldn't take a U.S. card. This is crazy! (& contradictory). I finally asked again if it was a website problem & she said yes it was, & to just keep trying the website & when the problem is corrected, the card will go through. If I had another option, I'd book another airline...despite Vueling's good reviews...but I'd have to get up at 4:00 to make a 7:00 AM flight out of Rome from where we're staying! Apparently neither of us is paranoid! ;-)

Yes, this is pretty bad. I'm going through this right now. Vueling is handling this problem so poorely...as if it's not happening. And so is Terminal A (online booking agent) which I ended up booking it with...but same results with them. Unbeliavable. I see that many of the post are from a year ago...and here we are, June 2009 and it's still going on!

Wow - I am having the same problem with Vueling and they are saying the issue is with both my banks (both neither received nor declined any charges from Vueling). They also suggest I entered the information incorrectly, though I would think I could get it right after some 20+ attempts!

Same issue with Edreams as well - except they did charge my account for part of the ticket price without issuing a ticket. Watch out for this site as well!

I was able to book my first flight after going through several credit cards. It took my visa debit through Schwab (a free money market account they reimburse atm fees and no transaction fee, someone from here suggested it as the best for travel). I added another charge later and it wouldn't go through then. I called, yes it is in Spanish first but finishes with English, the operator was fantastic, tried a couple of cards then accepted my Edward Jones visa debit card. She was very reassuring and helped me through. Vueling kept emailing me with suggestions ( I get spoiled with internet and kept trying to make it work). But it was the phone call that worked...and visa debit cards.

I am having difficulty booking with clickair and veuling. But in my case, my cc company is denying the charges - despite several calls to them and their claim that they will approve, they keep denying the charges. Does anyone have a way to contact Clickair drectly - their site does not list a phone number that works from the US.
I got a confirmation number from Clickair but my cc says that they denied the charge. So I do not know if I actually have tickets.

Do you have a debit card from your bank account? Try it, you will need it for the atm in Europe anyway.

I was eventually able to book through Vueling, although American Express was initially rejecting the charge because it looked suspicious. After booking I realized that I had booked both tickets under my name as passenger. This may not be a problem since I'm traveling with my stepmother and we have the same last name, and in fact, her middle name is the same as my first name. (Whew!) But it makes me nervous. I haven't been able to get through to Vueling by phone. Does anyone have a good number. Do I need to do something to dial internationally from the US? That might be my problem. Thanks!

I booked today with my Chase credit card. they did call me about fraud, I was doing 3 flights, got one through without a problem, then had a problem, then talked to them, and got all okay.

Use a good US credit card that you are able to call to allow them to post the charge, it should go through. Vueling takes US credit cards, check your address, etc., and call your credit card company to make sure they allow it. Its like when you travel abroad, you need to call them first so they know you are overseas with their credit card and charges are not fraudulent.

I just had the same problem with a debit card. I tried a number of times with no success. I contacted my bank and they tried to put in a code to override the rejection (due to using the card for a charge in Spain that they did not expect). Still did not work until bank contacted VISA and they put in a special code. Bottom line I used a credit card and skipped the debit card and it went through. Good luck.

Beware..I did not use this service but someone did. My debit card NUMBER was stolen and used to purchase tickets online thru this company. Lucky for me Chase caught this before I even saw the charge. Of course my account was nearly wiped out of over $1000 and it is going to take at least 2 days for the money to be returned to my account, a new card has to be issued and it's two days before XMAS. They same J@$$&SS also tried to make a charge to Jet Air. From all I have been researching on this joke of a company, I would never trust them with a debit card #, looks like that is all they take to get your $$$$$ quick. Travelers beware and research.

Eileen....which "service" and "company" are you speaking of?
And yes, debit cards will be rejected...they only accept credit cards (after much trying, according to many of you ;) ) Luckily, I haven't had those problems.
